How to Extract Pages from a PDF

PDFToolShack’s Extract Pages tool runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib.js. Load your PDF, click the pages you want to keep (they light up green), and download your new PDF — no uploads, no account, nothing stored.

This tool is the complement to Delete Pages. Use Extract when you want to keep a small number of pages from a large document — it’s faster to select 3 pages to keep than to mark 97 pages for deletion. Use Delete Pages when you only need to remove a few pages from an otherwise complete document.

The original file is never modified. All selected pages are copied in their original order into a brand new PDF and downloaded directly to your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between Extract Pages and Delete Pages?
They produce the same type of result but from opposite directions. Extract Pages: you select the pages you want — everything else is left out. Delete Pages: you mark the pages you don’t want — everything else is kept. Use whichever requires fewer clicks for your situation.
Will the extracted pages stay in their original order?
Yes. Pages are always output in their original document order regardless of the order you click them. If you need a custom page order, use our Merge PDF tool to reorder pages from separate extracts.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your file is loaded into memory, the selected pages are copied into a new PDF locally, and the result downloads directly to your device. Nothing is ever sent to any server.
Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
If the PDF requires a password to open, unlock it first with our Unlock PDF tool. PDFs with only permissions restrictions (print/copy locks) can usually be extracted directly.
Will extracting pages reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied directly from the source without any re-compression or re-rendering. Text sharpness, image resolution, and embedded fonts are all preserved exactly as in the original.
Can I extract pages into multiple separate PDFs at once?
Yes — use our Split PDF tool’s “Select Pages” or “Custom Ranges” mode. You can define multiple groups of pages and download them all as a ZIP in one go.
